The Covington Wood Refinishing System is the culmination of 26 years of trial and error along with experience and experimentation.

Paint and varnish manufacturers use an ultraviolet light simulator to test their products longevity. In most conditions, this has proven to be effective. However, over time, I have discovered that their tests do not take into account the south Louisiana climate and it's effects. I have gone back to see the damage personally, and have consistently and over time, altered my methods to meet the demands of the brutal south Louisiana climate.

First I take the doors off of the casing, and tape plastic inside the doorway to prevent dust from entering the home and to keep the cold air in the home (summer). I do not use any kind of stripper. I sand the door to raw wood. Stain, let dry, then start the coatings process, which I personally developed and will not divulge. I use a true MARINE VARNISH. My process forces the varnish deep into the wood, and then afterward the door gets a series of additional layers of the same coating. In order to guarantee the finished product for life, I must return every year to lightly sand and re-coat the door. If any damage has occurred to the finish it is fixed at no charge to my customer. The re-coat costs on average $ 75.

That being said, the Covington Wood Refinishing System's refinishing techniques that I have developed extend into exterior paint jobs. Although they cannot be warranted for life, I do stand behind them. With proper maintenance they will last a very, very long time.

I am also a journeyman carpenter, sheet-rock mechanic, and do minor plumbing and electrical work.
